Aims and Scope

MASALIKUNA: Journal of Fiqh Sosial and Turas is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to the study, contextualization, and development of Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) within modern societal frameworks and classical Islamic textual traditions (Turas).

The journal primary focus areas include (but are not limited to):

  1. Philosophy of Islamic Law 

Critical inquiries and philosophical examinations of the foundations, principles (Usul al-Fiqh), and objectives (Maqasid al-Shari'ah) of Islamic jurisprudence, as well as its contemporary legal philosophy.

  1. Fiqh sosial(Fiqh al-Ijtima'i):

Theoretical developments, methodological advancements, and the practical contextualization of social Fiqh to address dynamic societal realities. This scope encompasses a broad range of thematic Fiqh studies, including Fiqh and Gender / Women’s Issues (Fiqh al-Mar’ah), Fiqh and Politics (Fiqh al-Siyasah), Fiqh and Culture / Cultural Heritage (Fiqh al-Tsaqafah), or Fiqh, Nationhood, and Pluralism.

  1. Contextualization of Kitab Kuning (Turath Studies):

Modern interpretation, critical analysis, and contemporary application of classical Islamic texts (Kitab Kuning). This area bridges classical scholarship with modern social sciences to address contemporary legal and social challenges.

Peer Review Process

The review process in MASALIKUNA:Journal of Fiqh Sosial and Turāś  utilizes a double-blind peer review system. The review process is conducted transparently, objectively, and fairly, without regard to the author's ethnicity, gender, religion, citizenship, or institutional affiliation.

Upon submission, manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment regarding compliance with the journal’s focus, scope, and formatting template. Suitable manuscripts are then assigned to qualified peer reviewers based on their field of expertise. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript and provide constructive feedback to the editorial team. If revisions are required, the editorial team returns the manuscript to the author along with the reviewers' notes. Authors are expected to revise their work accordingly before re-submitting it for final evaluation.

All published research articles undergo full peer review based on the following key principles:

Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent expert reviewers.

Final publication decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief based on the reviewers' recommendations.

 Members of the International Editorial Board provide oversight, strategic guidance, and academic assistance for specific submissions.

Managing Editors and Editorial Staff provide administrative support to preserve the integrity of the peer review process while ensuring rapid turnaround times.

 

Publication Frequency

MASALIKUNA:  Journal of Fiqh Sosial and Turāś is published bi-annually twice a year, in June and December

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a broader global exchange of knowledge. All articles are published under an open-access model, meaning all content is freely accessible to users and institutions without charge.

Offprint

Authors will receive a free electronic copy (PDF version) of their published article as soon as it is posted online.

Commitment Against Plagiarism

As part of our commitment to academic integrity and ethical publishing, all submitted manuscripts are screened using anti-plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin). MASALIKUNA: Journal of Fiqh Sosial and Turāś maintains a strict policy against plagiarism.

The maximum allowable similarity index for submitted manuscripts is 20%

Manuscripts exceeding a 20% similarity threshold will be returned to the authors for correction and re-submission, or may face rejection depending on the severity of the overlap.
